And this sets him up for the (next) two years, the four years in which he can have his way over Republicans.”

1. Taking personal responsibility again, I see

Between holding the economy hostage, dictating terms to vaginas, pledging allegiance to some scruffy-looking nerfherder giving hand jobs to the rich, they need to be destroyed. They're doing it to themselves and doing a damn fine job.

2. actually, the gerrymandering had a lot to do with it, as did the american voters.

the gerrymandering meant that many republicans are now in safe, partisan republican districts (having corralled the democrats into a small number of extremely safe democratic districts).

so they're no longer worried about losing to a democrat, they're now only worried about losing to another republican in the primary. so they're hell-bent on being extreme, regardless of what's in the nation's interest.


this puts them at odds with the rest of the republicans, who need a few democratic votes to get re-elected, or who actually have greater ambitions and need to have a more moderate track record.

this may be unintended consequences, but they did it to themselves quite by design.

6. This is very true.

I've been saying for quite some time gerrymandering has been abused to the point it now poses a dangerous to our country.

I know, I know, neither side want's to eliminate gerrymandering. When you get the lucky draw to be the party in power after a census, the last thing you want to do is lose that delicious political edge. Well, look where that's gotten our country. We now have one party which has padded their chances to the point they can no longer govern. They're being held hostage by the extremest in their party who have absolutely no reason to compromise. The entire nation is suffering as a consequence. That's not even mentioning the people who were gerrymandered out of fair representation. Which no one really seems to care about.

Something needs to be done about gerrymandering. It's no longer a viable political tool as it's always been viewed as in the past.

Get the rates first if the choice is between loopholes and rates.

Loopholes open and close with little fanfare all the time. Rates are the tough row to hoe.

15. It's not exactly breaking news that tax hikes are the Republican's kryptonite.

And it doesn't exactly take a genius to realize that teabaggers would rather self-destruct than vote for tax increases. After all, the Tea Party was created by the 1% to obstruct Congress and oppose anything that would cut into the 1%'s profits.

Repukes invited the "chuckleheads," as LaTourette calls them, to the party and they've been feasting on their hosts like a bad case of crabs, ever since. Now, Krauthammer is giving cover to the parasites so that they keep on sucking the lifeblood out of those 'pukes, right up the whole lot of them turns completely white and dies.

Your anger seems misdirected. LaTourette is a Congressional Repuke, correct? It's the media that continues to provoke and stoke the baggers. Without manufactured conflict (which is the media's brand) government might conceivably be more functional.
