...in the doctor's waiting room. Just three of us in the room and an elderly woman got off her phone and commented that she was being urged to vote by family members in today's special election. This waiting room is just outside of the 7th district in Tennessee. She lamented to the other man that she couldn't vote for Van Epps and he agreed with her saying he wished he could vote for him, too. I told them it was unreal that they felt they could laud Trump in public and not expect to be called on it. I told them they were cheering for a pedophile. The man told me I should move to California then to New York if I felt that way. I told him he's free to live where he wants but wants to deny me that same freedom. He then asked for proof Trump was a pedophile, using colorful language. I told him Trump could f*** an 8-year-old in front of him and he would cheer him on then deny it happened afterward. He called me old-timer which surprised me since I had already judged him to be older than I but I have misjudged that in others I have met, often. The woman announced she was dying of cancer and would be gone in four months so she didn't care. I told her I was very sorry for that news. She then went on to praise Trump and asked if I voted for Harris. I told her her vote for Trump was a big middle finger to the rest of us who had to endure his presidency. The two left, not together, shortly after. I know some of you will criticize my behavior and I knew as I was living it that it was worthy of both praise and criticism but if we had called out these people for airing their fascists beliefs earlier perhaps we would not have this presidency.

(25,080 posts)They all seem to think they can freely express themselves without any difference of opinions from anyone else and when someone finally speaks up and calls em out, theyre combative. I think were tired of keeping our opinions to ourselves when the opportunity affords itself. Good on you for speaking up.
Playing nice and taking the high road hasn't worked, plus now the schoolyard bully has our lunch money.

(4,608 posts)Coming out of the super market, was a 5 '5 280 -300 pounder wearing a 'I'm Charlie Kirk 'hoodie, and all I did was ask to see her neck hole. She was very uncharitable in her response. I shouldn't have laughed, but to be fair, the guy at the counter and his older buddy started laughing first. She left, kinda in a huff.
If you want to be stupid around me, plan on recourse.

(9,316 posts)To the woman with cancer asking her how she felt that trump cut off all cancer research.
One good thing is these 2 hopefully reflects how the repub candidate is thought of and there are many who chose not to vote like these 2.

(4,760 posts)Your sentiment is the very essence of "all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing".
I completely agree with you.
Not going to criticize you.
People in NY know all about Trump.
That's why he moved to Florida.
He is a pedophile and rapist and sexually abused women

(3,217 posts). . . I really am a very nice person.
But as far as Trump people are concerned, I doubt that I would give any of them a breath of air if they were suffocating in a jug.

(28 posts)What I see in your narrative of what took place is that you spoke to some people with different viewpoints.
Your view, to them was wrong as compared to accurate.
You corrected their perceptions of you and acknowledged there was a certain amount of selfishness in at least one of their approaches to the last election.
Outside of that. The thing they align themselves with will be their undoing, not yours.

(12,106 posts)I haven't been on it for a few months, but I have been doing a lot of that this past week, and strangely enough, I get very few angry replies compared to just a few months ago, and it's mostly just "TDS" accusations. I've laid down some pretty blistering stuff that got 1 or 2 likes and no replies at all. I take that as a sign that it's getting harder every day to be a MAGA cultist defending the obviously worst president we've ever had.
