17-year-old girl commits suicide after alleging she was gang raped


New Delhi (CNN) -- Indian police have arrested three suspects named in a suicide note left by a teenager who claimed she had been gang raped, as anger in the country grows over the rising number of violent crimes committed against women.

The 17-year-old girl died Wednesday after ingesting poison, according to Paramjit Singh Gill, the inspector-general of police in the Patiala district of Punjab in the country's north.
In her suicide note, the girl blamed her alleged rapists for causing her death. Three of the suspects, including a female accomplice, have since been arrested, Gill said.

The unnamed girl claimed she was gang raped during the Hindu festival of Diwali on November 13. However, a formal case wasn't registered by police until 14 days later.

Two police officers involved in the case have been fired and another has been suspended for their handling of the rape complaint. Gill said an investigation was underway into allegations made by the girl's family that the officers pressured her to withdraw her complaint.

17. i watched a gang rape on FB a month ago, the mens face fuzzed out. i was told

that it was simulated rape for entertainment. mere porn. though, there was nothing in the 8 minutes that would indicate it was anything but rape, to the point of her curling up to fetal position at the end.

19. why i am sickened about the shift on du to equate sexism as being equal to both genders.

we have seen it promoted aggressively to the point, where i think we are totally throwing women under the bus to condone and allow this mentality. lessening the effect on women. and i think that is the purpose of promoting this. i have about walked from du.

how did i watch? it was so fuckin hard. i was physically effected to shakes and need to throw up and a headache. for hours after. and here it is a month later, and has colored my view on so much... i watched looking for ANY signs that it was a "game" for fuckin men to just jack off to and not a reality for a very young girl. i saw nothing. and everything to indicate it was a real moment.

i have watched so many things. because if i do not, i am told i do not know what i am talking about. i have watched about the boys being kidnapped into prostitution rings, as duers lecture me that it is all pretty woman tied up in a bow.

these people watch nothing. do not educate themselves. then argue how it is all wonderful and no different than working at mcdonalds. ignorant.

because if i did not watch the whole, i would be appeased with some man telling me it is merely simulated rape and all in good fun.
