60. I was laid off in Jan. 2010

I saw it coming, and had already applied for the job I have now.

It STILL took a year for them to hire me.

But thanks to Obama and the Democrats I had a meager $300/wk to survive the wait.

Repuglicans would have had me starve out and take a job at 711, probably unable to show up for work in decent clothes and not sick from malnutrition when I finally went to work at a living wage, again.

I'm doing a happy dance, for you. A former co-worker is still unemployed after almost 3 years, so I'm glad you found a job you like and are proud to have. (I did, too.)

So don't take this as anything else but "CONGRATULATIONS!"

But, God, I fucking hate Republicans.

... I think it's a sign of the times we live in that we have to be so excited because someone finally gets a decent job. Were it not for the persecution of unions and the outsourcing of all of our jobs to third world sweat shops, I can't help but speculate that it would be employers who were the ones celebrating finding accomplished staff to work for them.

I commute nearly an hour and it's a big chunk of time as well as being very expensive. I have a daughter in high school, so we are staying put for a while, anyway. But in the long run it makes sense to move unless you have an "anchor".

75. Hubby & I have 5 acres of pure paradise where our chocolate lab loves to jump into the river, and

our rooster and his dozen ladies love to wander about the orchard searching for tasty little bugs.
We have built a greenhouse, and a series of windowboxes to extend our veggie season, and have finally secured the veggie garden from bunnies and deer! The hops vines are growing well, and the grapes started producing last year! We get pie cherries and blueberries for us, and the apples and peaches all go for the critters (not by OUR choice, LOL!).

this is our "forever" home! And I only have five years until I can retire, so I can slog to Richmond for a few... So it will be spanish language tapes, and podcasts of the daily show and Rachel Maddow, and books on tape as I drive. : )
