1. I remember reading this story when I was a teenager.

I loved Clark because he always asked me to stretch my brain a bit and see the world in a slightly different version.

5. I read this story in my youth. Today it has remined me of the Star Trek Next Generation story "The Inner Light"

The Inner Light is also a story of a civilization condemned to die, that knew what was coming. So they reached out to tell someone of their life. It was such a hauntingly beautiful, sad story. They wrote music for the episode, that was also sad.
