Forty thousand Churchills can't be wrong. Ringo Starr
Two of my sisters one a member of this community, the other a lurker have recently contacted me elsewhere with Beatles related messages. For example, about some documentaries that are currently available on a source I do not pay for, but have access to. For our generation, the Beatles were always a big part of the holiday season.
Watching the Beatles, I went back in time to when the movie Yellow Submarine was released. Of course, the Beatles themselves had little to do with its production
... but they were the inspiration. It came out in late 1968, which before now had always been the year my generation recognized as the strangest ever, a puzzling mix of beautiful and brutal. Much like today, 1968 had its share of Blue Meanies, Apple Bonkers, and Flying Gloves.
I'm not saying that by singing All You Need is Love we can destroy the maga movement. But I can say that we can sing while we destroy it. And that we can lighten up the miserable gray landscape as we go.
After watching hours of the Beatles, I turned on a couple podcasts. I looked out the window at the frigid weather, with freezing rain coming down. There were eight deer enjoying a meal of the bird food that I dump on the ground daily. Watching the deer, I heard some information about how things are getting worse for the felon, and that this will continue on a steep decline. Thus, I contacted some associates who are far better informed on DC than I. I heard encouraging things that I will post about soon.
Traffic had come to a stop on the roads, as the governor had declared an emergency. After the deer had left to bed down they do so out near my fire pit I ventured outside. I love the sound of the frozen water dropping from the sky, some strong wind, and the trees popping. Then it seemed to stop storming, and it became absolutely silent. Despite risking scaring wildlife, I found myself singing All You Need is Love.
I am not saying that listening to the Beatles will cure our society's ills. It won't. But I find it helps me as I prepare for 2026. Plus I like Ringo's saying, as it provides me the best option for a response to those ass clowns who are still in the cult.

(112,710 posts)Yes, their music crossed so many genres (both real & made up to describe their songs) that it might not be obvious to many, but there was so much to be positive about and to learn from their music.
While anyone in the older three generations should be pretty well versed in the Beatles singles--at least from hearing them on radio or tv, I admittedly did not pay a lot of attention to them over the years other than a few selections in my personal music library, having been born just a little short of their prime adherent generation. But I have recently been going through album by album and am enjoying a comprehensive look back--including their anthology and other movie productions that I ignored over the years.
At any rate, I share your desire to gain a positive outlook from both their music and from nature. The latter, especially has been my sanity...

(78,552 posts)I remember watching them on Ed Sullivan's "really big shoe." My older brothers knew that they had visited then-Cassius Clay's training camp as he prepared to fight Liston for the title. Years later, I learned that John was was the only person with a quicker wit than Ali .... when he said, "You're not as dumb as you look," John responded, "No, but you are." Behind me I have an autographed picture from their meeting.
When LPs were The Thing, I collected all of their albums I could. The European and Japanese were different than those released in this country ...... actually, so was the movie Yellow Submarine. And of course there were bootlegs, etc. If one includes post-Beatles releases such as the Plastic Ono Band, I had 157 different albums, now in my son's collection.
Of course I like other artists. But the Beatles made things better back then, in a way no other group did.

(18,377 posts)The one will have a brief, brutish, and nasty vogue (provided he or his minions don't destroy the Earth and humanity with it), whereas John, Paul, George and Ringo, individually and collectively, will be remembered for as long as human beings have memory.
"The End" will never actually come, because the love you take is equal to the love you make.
