This Had To Be The Quietest New Year's In My 78 Years Of Life......i

I live in a near western suburb of Chicago - fireworks usually go on most of the night and still go off the next morning too.

Not this year. Maybe 7 minutes of uninterupted fireworks - than silence

Really weird!!!

In Northern Jersey.

Wasn’t bad with the windows closed. At first, I thought it was someone shoveling snow, but then I realized we didn’t have any snow.

The first time in decades that I did not hear one single gun shot, not even a fire cracker all night!

I moved to a nice quiet town where I haven't seen a gun rack in a pick up truck yet.

They started at 7 PM in my neighborhood, and I was still hearing them at 2:30 AM. They were louder than usual, too.

Few gun shots but not the war zone it usually is. Zero fireworks.

North Central NC.

Then the rain got too heavy for fireworks.
And the fireworks "show" pretty much non-stop all over the city since around 1030 pm.
It was almost ferocious for a half hour around midnight - like the "attacking the Bosch and storming No Mans Land" part of a WWI movie..

Laz was taking a friend home around 1145 pm, said the sky was lit up everywhere the entire time he was out.

And now (5am through 6am), we're having heavy rains and thunderstorms, but it's still too warm for New Year's snow in the mountains.

almost frightening -- a mix of gunfire and fireworks that starts just after dark. Last night? Almost dead silence.

It was made worse by being socked in with clouds and light drizzle which amplified the bombs.

I had lots of illegal thoughts about the person or people shooting them off.

Some booms, but then again, I fell asleep well before midnight. LONG day of work. Off today and tomorrow, though.

Happy New Year to all DUers.!

Some booms shook the house. My poor dogs. Even though I turned the TV sound up to muffle the fireworks and that helped a bit. I fell asleep since I normally go to bed early but I still heard barks, but fewer. I eventually woke up enough to turn off the TV and we slept in a little this morning.
