Mayor Mamdani has nullified every executive order issued by Eric Adams after he struck his corrupt bargain with Trump to secure dismissal of the indictment against him.

Just flat-out declaring that everything Adams did as mayor after the indictmentâin the final fifteen months and five days of his term of officeâwas presumptively corrupt, and undoing everything that's in his immediate power to undo with a single stroke of the pen.

This is the way.

(45,981 posts)Not from the dismissal of the indictment. The indictment was issued in September 2024, the deal with Trump was in February 2025.

(2,256 posts)on the promise to nullify every single EO Trump made in his tenure, and do so on the very hour of inauguration.
The idea of PRESUMPTIVE CORRUPTION is a powerful campaign message that most of America wants to hear spoken out loud. Americans are sick of this, "Now is the time to look ahead. We aren't looking backwards" bullshit. No. We have to fix the damage done by Trump, and nullifying his EOs is a very easy first step.
If, by some chance, there are a few EOs that might have some legitimacy, the new President can issue new EOs to that effect.
If the Republican candidates are smart, they will be saying pretty much the same thing.

(3,318 posts)Assuming a Democrat is president in 2029.
And it may not be that simple; some things will have to wait until the second term, for obvious political reasons.
Some revocations will need to be specific to a particular EO to ensure its understood that its no longer in effect.
Last, some of Trumps EO wont be revoked instead they will no longer be enforced.

(7,692 posts)Democratic PRESIDENT issuing Executive Order No. 1: "All of Trump's executive orders are hereby nullified and revoked."
I've never mentioned it because I didn't know that was possible.
Is it?

(130 posts)It's often done when the incoming Prez is of the other party. I believe TACO (excuse me, Prez TACO. Mustn't be disrespectful...) did that for some of Biden's EOs.

(7,692 posts)Just wondered if one EO can wipe away ALL of Trump's in one fell swoop. Would be nice.
But I also wonder about the precedent that would set.

(130 posts)related to preventing folks from some countries to immigrate to the US. A new President's revoking those EOs means those people will again have the opportunity to immigrate here. And, if I remember correctly, at least some of his EOs put in place some, if not all, of the original tariffs. So getting rid of what ever tariffs created by TACO's EOs would help restore the economy. That should be real world enough, don't you think?

(1,753 posts)LOL I like the way this mayor is starting off. He seems like he's going to follow through with what he promised, and the people of New York should be crying huge tears of joy and dancing in the streets.
"Mayor Mamdani". I like the sound of that.
