I mean, we are suddenly in uncharted waters. These threats by Trump and his mob against other nations are something we have never seen before. The world is in fear, bracing itself, wondering what the hell will that crazy guy do next.

(5,046 posts)when the Republican party chose an authoritarian Strong Leader who was not committed to democracy to head their party.
They knew what they were doing, several Republican leaders refused to support Trump. They briefly entertained the idea of a brokered convention to choose another candidate. But they realized that they could not win without him because he was so wildly popular with the 80% of their base who are authoritarians.
So the Republicans put party before country and chose the authoritarian.
The threats though, except against European allies, aren't new. Even then we shouldn't ignore Operation Gladio, etc. Evil always exists in every society. Part of the reason that evil triumphs is that so many people who don't support evil refuse to acknowledge that evil exists right under our noses.

But, who knows how many other Manchurian candidates were dormant in the political and business spheres of the US. Probably none as uniquely flawed as Trump though.

This is an oligarchical dictatorship, for the benefit of a very few wealthy and psychologically damaged monsters who have a compulsion to amass more money than they could ever use in a hundred lifetimes.
BUT, you and I, as Americans, will be viewed as perpetrators of this outrage by the rest of the world by virtue of the fact that we are part of the system that elected Cankles, even though we voted against him. History will not make the distinction between "good" and "bad" Americans once he is finished wreaking havoc on the world.
