Prosecutors said the couple received over 250 packages containing drugs between August 2024 and December 2025, according to the criminal complaint. Connie Luck, a spokesperson for Ramaswamy's campaign, told Newsweek that Salsburey was immediately removed from the family's security detail.
Why It Matters
Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, is running for governor of Ohio, and Salsburey was part of his security team up until his arrest. The Ramaswamy campaign team said that before his employment through a private security firm, Salsburey had passed multiple FBI and state background checks, as well as drug screenings and random testing.
During a search of the couple's home, law enforcement found 264 grams of blue fentanyl pills, 938 grams of methamphetamine pills, and 19 grams of MDMA, the complaint against Rankin said. She later said that she believed the blue pills were "benzos" and some of the others were Adderall.
