Trump on Chinese leader Xi taking Taiwan: 'That's up to him'
President Trump on Thursday said his counterpart, Chinese President Xi Jinping, would have to determine himself if he will use military force against Taiwan.
The president told The New York Times regarding a potential operation led by Beijing that Xi considers Taiwan to be a part of China and thats up to him what hes going to be doing.
You know, Ive expressed to him that I would be very unhappy if he did that and I dont think hell do that. I hope he doesnt, Trump said, days after the United States captured Venezuelan regime leader Nicolás Maduro.
He may do it after we have a different president, but I dont think hes going to do it with me as president, Trump continued.
He noted that Maduros capture came after signs of a real threat, adding the circumstances faced by China are not similar to those around the U.S. and Venezuela.
You didnt have people pouring into China. You didnt have drugs pouring into China. You didnt have all of the bad things that weve had. You didnt have the the jails of Taiwan opened up and the people pouring into China, Trump said.

All Trump had to do was keep his yap shut in order to maintain the US policy of strategic ambiguity and it would have continued to serve as a deterrent against Chinese military action against Taiwan.
This is exactly why global diplomacy should not be conducted by a convicted reality-TV showman.

Trump claims that Russia never would have invaded Ukraine had he been president in 2022 literally every time he comments on the war.
Well Taiwan was his opportunity to demonstrate that. And he just told China to go ahead and take it.
The man is a total fraud in every conceivable way.
