ICE agent who shot Renee Good had a prior car incident in which he was dragged

J.D. Vance used that as justification for the shooting claiming he might be sensitive to being hit by a car.

Sounds to me like the officer was unstable in this type of situation and should not have been active. It is often the case where officers are attacked or injured they need mental health intervention, it would be interesting to see if this was addressed in this officers case. J.D. Vance’s suggestion that prior injury is justification for shooting people seems like a new form of self defense. You’re exonerated for mental illness reasons seems a hazardous path to go down. Giving mentally ill people guns is, or should be, frowned upon.

It seems odd that this officer would put himself in front of another vehicle during a high risk situation. Seems like he never learned that if you keep doing the same thing expecting different results is the definition of insanity.

I’m sure a psychiatrist would have more precise thoughts on this but foremost is what intervention was provided to this officer after his first, if it was his first, incident involving a vehicle allegedly running him over.

then he violated his training and his rules of engagement.

Saying that he was dragged previously confirms one thing to me, he is stupid and out of control. This is more evidence that he shouldn't be in law enforcement, he does qualify for the Gestapo.

It wasn't even close to a dire situation. Neighborhood road. And it ends up as shooting? Someone getting killed 'cause the officer's psyche problem is a no go also.

...was he even fit for duty? If his prior experience rendered him unable to retain the necessary professionalism his training demands, then he certainly was not fit for duty, especially given ICE's propensity for outrageous escalation. He's just a road rager with a badge and a gun.
