I've actually never posted anything on X -- I stopped posting on Twitter the day Elon Musk bought it. I've also decided to stop posting pics on Facebook -- it is simply no longer useful for political content, and I'm not using Instagram any more. Not a huge fan of the whole Zuck/Musk social media monopoly. However, I will retain these accounts because they are useful for notifying DUers should there ever be a problem accessing DU.

When Bluesky started becoming popular I created an account there just to have one, but at the time I didn't use it. Since I've started posting pics again, I'm going to be crossposting them there:

I finally established contact with an environmental journalist with politics very similar to my own this week. I am going to start the process of pushback in my neck of the woods.

I do not think this Cato/Koch mercenary model of immigration on a clearly overpopulated and warming planet testing the limits to growth, with a brainless/fascistic technology sector whose mainstream or more risibly “left” is represented by Google/Facebook etc and the right by the nazi pseudo-populism of Musk/Palantir, is working out for anyone.

I have had enough of mainstream narratives that can never examine root causes except in ways that continue to feed the worst forms of what I call junk capitalism.

It is racist and anti-immigrant, but that only tells part of the story. It is undemocratic, broadly exploitative and extractive and treats all humans like chattel to herd. That is not compatible with democracy and while Trump, the neo nazis and the religious lunatics are the scariest overt manifestation, the problems do run deeper going by my personal experiences.

I am not American or in America, but even after I left the US this noxious model of junk capitalism, fake elitism and sexist pseudo-populism has continued to destroy my life, home and street and I have had enough.

I am a peaceful enough person, but I am not a fool and a 15 year permacrisis I have personally seen, with every new crisis-Trump 1.0, covid, Trump 2.0 being used to parasitize the planet, the public sector and any remaining healthy parts of society..this cannot go on.


For it to stop, narratives that always push for testing the limits to growth and feed this rapacious and parasitic model of growth at all costs with nothing to show for it but crap like these junk llms or the trash I have seen..this has to stop.

It is choking out and killing good science and straining good doctors like Fauci, while the media remains superficial garbage mostly. This is the growth of super-fit cancer cells..not even healthy growth (like say medical discoveries or quantum computing). I was very encouraged to see Yan Lecun leave Facebook. That tracks..all of this makes sense actually. I agreed with your post election analysis about algorithmic capture as someone who thinks this is the banality of evil as much as targeted malice.

I am feeling extremely grim about it all. I have seen enough and I have had enough.

I am a difficult woman as I am at odds with society broadly ;-/. I tried to “fit in” and it didn’t take. It never does…Free will may mean that we cannot overwrite who we are no matter what pressures are piled on you. That is not necessarily a bad thing. I do not believe that most humans are fundamentally evil so much as confused and manipulated by the media-right wing and as bad blah, toothless, defanged sycophantic to power going back 25 years..
Look at the world today and tell me it is conspiratorial to never question blah status quo.

And these self-serving views of reality that always see the planet as just a source for extractive mining, will eventually turn on and enslave all humans and that won’t work. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered (saw that in a post by DUer Marble Falls and was struck by it).

Looking deeper and more closely, this model of capitalism had to end. It offers nothing to anyone but parasitic humans and I certainly do not mean welfare or the rural poor etc. I mean Thiel fellow Lucy Guo, Musk, Trump, Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella, Jeff Bezos, Clare Wu, Sheryl Sandberg, Priscilla Chan, Mark Cuban, Reid Hoffman, Kim Kardashian, Paul Singer, the Kochs, Cato, AEI, big tech, all rightwing and libertarian think tanks, all oligarchs and billionaires, Palantir, Google, Facebook, every overpaid moron etc.

There are only a finite amount of resources, when people with no concept of the limits to growth hijack everything, there is none left for healthier models of being. I have felt and tried to function within the limits to growth all my life. I did not find the NIH unfair or parasitic till the influence of Google and Facebook started muscling in which is when I self-deported. I owe the NIH and the public sector in the US. I owe nothing to any oligarch anywhere.

I was raised without much force or programming. My parents left it at: science good, religion mostly bad, environment/animals good (my mom mostly), feminism good…do your own thing.

They never told me how and what to think. So I cannot abide by coercion, peer pressure of the worst kinds etc.

I do not think humans can be forced or brainwashed/manipulated without consequences.

I am not an influencer or political plant. I am a nameless, human scientist albeit failed and not impressed by kayfabe or cowed by soft force. I am not maddened by it anymore either. This isn’t working because it is fundamentally dishonest. Unlike poor Dr.Fauci, I am too lousy a scientist to be able to also endure junk politics and theatre on top of that.

How Dr Fauci was treated was really a teaching moment for me. He is the rare model human professional (like my onc) in this shit society and he was not even immune. While these creepy oligarchs are fine. My doctors, mentors and few friends are role models overall - about as good as fallible humans get. Iow honest, decent and hard working the sane not hustle culture way.

That will in no way mean peace of mind in a fascistic oligarchy. And so I have seen enough.
