I have a concern. I really really hope that Becca legally adopted their son. Early on, there was a statement from the former father-in-law, something about he was coming to get his grandson. And a statement has emerged from a former Brother-in-Law saying that Renee had no business being at the site of that protest. How tragic it would it be if poor Becca has to fight for custody of their son? I dont want to be an alarmist, but everything about the story. Its just so awful, and that would just compound it. Im glad that the GoFundMe thats been started has collected so much money. If the worst case rises, at least she will have the money to fight for custody. But of course, the money in that fund might also be an incentive for the fathers family to try and get their hands on it. Sorry, but Im having a dark view of humanity these days and the greed that seems to live in so many peoples hearts.

(10,917 posts)... the gofundme is listed. That's not very specific... I believe there are three minor children, and I'm not sure who is the biological mother of each... it will probably go to court, unless there is something more specific that I don't know (and there is a lot I don't know). I have been thinking of those kids and this media coverage. To see your mother getting killed, over and over... I can't imagine the pain. I wonder if they are being shielded. Then, I also think they should see it with loved ones, instead of a phone at school... horrific.

(105,581 posts)What the brother-in-law says may not be relevant (which brother-in-law? See below). The grandfather just said he was shocked by Renee's death. As far as I can tell, she was still married to his son when he died:
She was his heart, her former brother-in-law Joseph Macklin, who lives near Knoxville, Tennessee, said of Good and his brother. He described her as a great and loving mother.
...
In 2023, Timmy Macklin died at age 36, and Good became primarily a stay-at-home mom, her first husband said.
Joseph Macklin said Good made an effort to keep her son in touch with his family back in Tennessee: She always brought him to see us. She was so kindhearted.

(392 posts)I probably shouldnt have speculated without more information. Its just all of this is so awful and my mind sometimes goes to the worst. I hope sincerely that the family can come together and give all of these kids as much love as they deserve right now.
