RENEE NICOLE GOOD is We the People!Last night, Indivisible and other organizing groups put out a call to action - ICE OUT for GOOD.
Events are being planned for the whole weekend. I have been keeping an eye on the mobilize.us website. The rallies and vigils are already numerous, for both Saturday and Sunday.

WE THE PEOPLE are angry...and peaceful.

(28,646 posts)Angry... yes.
But peaceful is the crowd on the sidewalk protesting, not blocking them in a car and certainly not driving away when you're ordered to get out of the car (apparently leaving her wife behind who was trying to get in).
The reason we feel for her is because we agree with her protest and (much more importantly) because some idiot overreacted and shot her multiple times. But if they had chased her down the road and arrested her for impeeding federal law enforcement... I wouldn't have objected.

(4,612 posts)When i said: We the People are angry...and peaceful, I was referring to those of us who are showing up to rallies and protests in response to the extreme measures perpetrated by ICE.
I found Renee's partner's taunting of the federal officer to be unnecessary...but not illegal. The First Amendment entitles her to be a vocal jerk.
However, the taunting by the federal "cop" crossed a line of professionalism and training. He is obliged to de-escalate...not escalate. He is issued responsibility along with that gun and misplaced trust/authority.
No matter what - neither of the woman did anything to warrant lethal force. Nothing Renee Good did demanded the death penalty.
The SO/wife was about to get in the car - they were going to leave. I am not a judge, I cannot decide the appropriate charge or possible fine for Renee's behavior behind the wheel....if there is one. It was certainly not death.
ICE needs to be restrained. They are violating peoples' rights every day...without consequence.
You are not obligated to identify yourself with the injustice that ended Renee Nicole Good's life. Many, at the rally I attended last night, do.

GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN.

More on the weekend.
