Trump Orders Special Forces To Prepare Plan To Invade Greenland: Report

Donald Trump ordered JSOC to plan an invasion of Greenland, but senior military leaders and joint chiefs resisted, citing legality and lack of Congressional support.

US President Donald Trump has ordered his special forces commanders to prepare a plan for the invasion of Greenland though the plan has been resisted by senior military figures.

The Daily Mail quoted the sources saying the President has asked the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to prepare the invasion plan, but it is being resisted by the joint chiefs of staff on the grounds that it would be illegal – and would not be supported by Congress.

“They have tried to distract Trump by talking about less controversial measures, such as intercepting Russian ‘ghost’ ships – a clandestine network of hundreds of vessels operated by Moscow to evade Western sanctions – or launching a strike on Iran," one of the sources said.

The sources said that the plan, led by political adviser Stephen Miller, has been formulated after the success of the operation to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and they aim to seize the island before Russia or China makes a move.

However, The Daily Mail quoted British diplomats saying that Trump is also motivated by a desire to distract American voters from the performance of the US economy before the mid-term elections later this year, after which he could lose control of Congress to the Democrats.

This comes days after Trump renewed his threat to own the territory.

There's nothing illegal/immoral about an order to create a plan to invade a country. I'm sure the Pentagon already has the plan; it just needs to be dusted off, updated to incorporate current weapons and logistic support.

For Trump, create a summary digest of the plan, with pictures and maps, not to exceed one page and maybe two Powerpoint slides. Keep it simple, then simplify it some more.

If Trump gives an order to execute the plan, then resistance is proper.

There have been “plans” for WWIII for decades, and “plans” to invade Canada for almost as long.

They are contingency plans, so if the need arises, and the order is given, the military won’t be caught unprepared..

Second of all, the source is the Daily Mail, the original clickbait before there were clicks.

I believe there’s a good chance that if Trump attacks Greenland he will be impeached and removed from office, by Republicans if it happens before the midterms.

The EU has, is clear and unambiguous terms, stated that they will go to war to defend Greenland.

Norway has already stated that Norwegian forces have standing orders to repel any attack on Greenland with any and all force necessary.

Canada and Mexico has also implied they would side with Greenland and that EU. So have a couple other South American countries.

It will be a full blown world war on multiple fronts.

They have used diplomatic weasel words to imply they would be severely disgruntled if such an attack were to take place.

Not even Denmark has said they would respond with force to such an attack.

The EU has only said, clearly and unambiguously, that an attack by the US would mean the end of NATO.

Greenland themselves (not Norway) have said their troops have standing orders to respond to any incursion with deadly force without waiting for orders from superiors.

If Canada and the EU were truly serious about dissuading Trump from attacking Greenland, they would have already deployed several thousand troops there, along with planes, ships, and a nuclear armed sub- that would shut Trump right up.

First of all, totally normal cuz we do it all the time. Secondly, it’s probably not true cuz of the source. But if it was, nothing to see here. Trump is just making sure that if his need to invade Greenland arises, the military will not be unprepared. Also if this invasion I don’t believe will happen happens, the Rs will give us President JD.

It must be nice to have direct access to facts plus the answers to all the various counterfactuals.

if a Democrat had done this.

Has anyone asked why the fuck an "invasion" is necessary? Because the baby wants to "own" it?

This is cool: “They have tried to distract Piggy by talking about less controversial measures, such as....launching a strike on Iran..."

What the actual fuck.

Maybe someone could "distract" the psycho baby by throwing a Big Mac and Filet O'Fish at him.

Better yet, distract him with handcuffs and leg shackles and take Nosferatu with him.

Beyond that though, the Daily Mail has been weirdly plugged into Pentagon reporting.

Any US special forces invasion of Greenland would need staging at a Canadian or British base which makes me wonder if some British military staff got roped into preliminary planning.

The paper is owned by a member of British royalty. Not sure what connection that might have. Just a weird factoid

I'm still not seeing it in anyplace I consider credible - The Telegraph better than the Daily Mail, but it is rated as "mixed" on factual reporting, and "medium credibility" - and the other sources I can find aren't anything I consider reliable either.

Overall, we rate The Telegraph Right Biased based on story selection that strongly favors the right and Mixed for factual reporting due to poor sourcing of information and some failed fact checks.
Detailed Report
Bias Rating: RIGHT (6.4)
Factual Reporting: MIXED (4.9)

As they dont really have the means to do so in any meaningful way. Their ability to move personnel and equipment any distance from Europe is very limited, and under combat situations and tempo, even more limited.

They lack heavy sealift and heavy airlift capacity. As of now, NATO logistics as run by the US. Sealift, airlift, and mid air refueling is nearly entirely US military run. Coordination and planning is also basically run by the US. If a hypothetical war was actually happening, its doubtful much men or equipment would even survive transport across the Atlantic with the US Navy and Air Force operating to interdict any of it. Canadian military bases are mostly located relatively close to the US border. They closed down much of their more remote bases post cold war when they cut their funding back and downsized their military. MIssiles would be flying mostly one way, from the US to Canada as Canada doesn't have any MLRS type rocket systems and they do not have any cruise missiles. Their munitions are mainly laser guided bombs, some artillery, and some anti ship missiles. And they do not have a large amount of any of it.

the law. Special Forces are for specific limited engagements of a particular target, not a national invasion.

IMO Mr. Miller needs to come before Congress and 'splain a few things. Like how an unelected presidential aide such as he decided how and when to invade a sovereign ally and fellow member of NATO, AND how it is he is giving orders to military leaders to prepare for an immediate war.

The last time I looked it was the responsibility of the President to consult with Congress and the Senate over such matters PRIOR to engaging in a war and to seek their approval of such PRIOR to putting members of the forces in harm's way and risking the good faith of the American people, as well as that of our friends and allies.

Mr. Miller has already a reputation for exaggeration, and for an exotic interpretation of US law and history. It would be wise of him to get Congressional approval under the law rather than risk serious legal consequences, not to say personal humiliation.

Fire on invading troops giving Trump the choice to have them killed. Of course, broadcast it all over the world, invite in foreign reporters to verify.

America loses even if we win. Trump officially goes down on worst US president list for the foreseeable future if he isn't already there.

Of course, they might also benefit from a false flag operation where they create explosions and show "dead" bodies of dead Greenlanders done at the right timing.
