(129,180 posts)but given the fluidity of national identities in those days I'm not going to quibble. I'd love being annexed by Scandinavia.

I figured they would annex the U.S. or at least Florida, Mag-a-Loco and some golf courses and advertising towers.
Incidentally, the Flabby Old Piggy (FOP) has said he wants more Nordic (i.e. white) people in the U.S. Somebody better tell him that Minnesota has the largest portion of Nordic people of all the states according to Wikipedia. And most of the top ten are blue states. I suspect there's a reason for that.

(1,243 posts)"Hygge" is Denmark's national obsession; just as America's is "Liberty"
Hygge (pronounced "hoo-gah"
is a Danish and Norwegian concept centered on coziness, contentment, and well-being, finding joy in simple pleasures, togetherness, and creating a warm, intimate atmosphere through elements like candlelight, comfort food, soft textiles, and good company, embodying a state of happy, relaxed contentment. It's about savoring everyday moments, slowing down, and fostering connection with loved ones, making it a core part of Danish culture.
