Food for thought about our government and those who currently compose it.

THOMAS PAINE ~ From Common Sense 1776 ~

Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one: for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer.

Health Insurance benefits are a must in today's high cost supplies and procedures.
OTOH, the treatment of many including citizens by ICE is despicable.

"The House of Representatives on Jan. 8 voted to extend the enhanced subsidies another three years. The bill is less likely to clear the Senate, which has already voted to reject the enhanced subsidies. But talks have continued among some senators for a possible bipartisan solution to rising health insurance costs." - https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2026/01/11/rising-obamacare-rates-aca/88072874007/

Without government help, many people can't afford the insurance that can keep them from bankruptcy over life sustaining treatments and medications.

With blessings like affordable health insurance and life threatening hazards like ICE, government is a two-edged sword.

We have to establish a majority in both the House and Senate this year. A veto proof majority.

At least not in the senate - better to get a simple majority there, and kill the filibuster so every bill that makes it out of committee gets an up or down vote from every senator, on the public record.

And then, when a Dem is president in 2029, congress can expand the court.
