In the category, Maher was up against Brett Goldstein, Kevin Hart, Kumail Nanjiani, Ricky Gervais, and Sarah Silverman. Sykes had brutal jokes about each.

She took shots at all the comedians in the category. She didn't single out Maher and what she said wasn't so excoriating.

7. It was not excoriating, but it was definitely a ribbing, and most important she was funny.

So she had the whole audience laughing at Maher. And that is brutal.


If it had been too vicious a ribbing, it might not have been funny, and maybe there wouldn't have been as much laughter at Maher's expense.

6. Wanda was hilarious! She ribbed humorless Maher well, and really poked Gervais for his anti-trans jokes.

First, she thanks Gervais for not being there, because if he wins, she can accept on his behalf and say, "Thank God and the trans community."

Then, sure enough, he wins, so she does as she said she would do, she says, "thank God and the trans community."

Never give an opposing celebrity who unconditionally runs his/her own platform the ratings/viewership after the fact.

And that is what Wanda did. Now people will want to tune in to see what he does to retaliate.
