Rachel Maddow is covering media coverage of the protests

which, for a change, has been extensive.

This is a big deal. Something is changing.

These protests are popping up everywhere spontaneously. I found out about one four blocks from my house this evening only about 10 minutes before it started, so I grabbed my coat and my sign (ICE OUT FOR GOOD on one side; *ICE* GET THE FUCK OUT OF MINNEAPOLIS on the other) and dashed down the street. There eventually were 90-100 people altogether on all four corners of the intersection, people with drums, loud chanting (the best was "ICE SUCKS ASS!" ) and great enthusiasm from passing motorists - and the staff of the restaurant Khâluna brought out little boxes of fried rice for us. These small pop-up protests are occurring everywhere, every day, and it's the kind of exposure that might be more persuasive than the big demonstrations, because they are people's neighbors and they are everywhere.
