No doomscrolling. Find your calling and you'll feel great and make a difference too!

I know things are getting bad and so many terrible things are happening right now. In spite of this we persist and we're still here!

I want to share something that I believe has really helped my mental health and made me feel better despite the crazy times we're in while also I'm hoping making a small difference too.

I suggest that people find something where you believe you can make a difference. Something you're passionate about or something you enjoy doing that will help make a difference. Basically find your calling.

For me I'm passionate about getting people off of Twitter and boycotting other MAGA companies. I believe this is something we can all do. I also like to share information that I find helpful, read about candidates and also I plan to volunteer however I can knocking on doors and doing all I can to get out the vote.

When I do these things I feel a lot better. It's way better than just doomscrolling and feeling afraid and helpless. I know everyone is different but if you feel like things can't get better maybe try making a change. You can start small, maybe just leave some motivating and helpful comments like encourage people to vote and volunteer, spread information about how you can make a difference do your own littler part and I really believe you'll feel better and you'll be part of history as one of the people who helped save our country.

Even just talking to a family member or friend about the state of our country and passing along information can help. Maybe you have a friend of family member who leans/is a Democrat but they feel hopeless. You could say something like this: "We have the power of the purse/wallet. I stopped using Twitter and switched to Bluesky and created an account on Democratic Underground. Now I connect with wonderful people instead of arguing with angry bots and Russians pretending to be Americans on Twitter. I also signed up for (local candidate's) newsletter and now have a volunteer opportunity. It's my first time canvasing and I'm glad I can make a difference. This sure beats scrolling on my phone and just reading without taking any actions. I also will attend a protest next week. Since making these changes my mental health has improved a lot and now I have more energy to fight for my country and win the midterms. I also recently had a conversation with a moderate Republic family member and even made a little headway helping him realize Trump isn't who he said he was.". Then maybe you're friend/family would feel inspired.

Another thing is sometimes when I read a news article I think: OK what can I do about this. Surprisingly often times there's a lot you could do. But don't try to take on everything, try to stick to what you're passionate about, if you read too much you might get overloaded.

But no matter what you do as long as you're making a difference it's all good!

We got ourselves in this situation by not paying enough attention to state House and Senate elections. Help a state rep campaign, they could use it.

It seems state and local elections get hardly any attention but they're super important. It determines what happens in your city, in your county and your state. I dream of a day when all 50 states are blue states.
