Dawned on me late last night as coverage of this siege was underway that this is his long-range plan:

-- Instruct ICE/Border Patrol to rachet up the violence -- to deadly force, if necessary;
-- Once deadly violence begins, launch the Insurrection Act to legally bypass the Posse Comitatus law;
-- The Insurrection Act enables his activation of U.S. military troops to occupy states;
-- He declares Martial Law.

He will try to use Martial Law to suspend the midterm elections. He has convinced himself -- publicly stated -- that Dems will retake the Congressional majority, which means he will be impeached.

He will do anything to prevent that.
