The Mother Jones article for 'A new theory explains why Trump keeps threatening global takeovers' referred to "Chris Buskirk, an adviser to JD Vance who runs the organization, 1789, and he talks about how we need to bring back an aristocratic system of governance". Here is that article:
Chris Buskirk put tech elites at the center of power in Trumps Washington. His efforts are grounded in a controversial theory: An aristocracy is needed to move the country forward.
Convened by Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel and JD Vance, then an investor who had written a best-selling memoir, the meeting included hedge fund heiress Rebekah Mercer, then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson and economist Oren Cass, according to two people familiar with the meeting. The people spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private gathering, details of which have not been previously reported.
...
Today, Buskirk helms the Rockbridge Network, a secretive organization birthed out of the weekend gathering that has established itself as one of the most influential forces in GOP politics. Political strategists credit the close-knit network of businessmen-cum-donors with helping fuel the presidents reelection last year and propelling one of its own Vance into the vice presidency.
...
Buskirks ties to Trumps orbit go beyond Rockbridge. 1789 Capital, the venture capital firm he co-founded with investor Omeed Malik, focuses on what the partners call patriotic capitalism and now counts Donald Trump Jr. as a partner. The pair along with administration officials and friends recently launched Executive Branch, a $500,000-a-head membership club for Trump-supporting business leaders to hobnob in D.C.
...
Many innovative periods in history have been driven by such an aristocracy, Buskirk argues, a point he makes in his 2023 book, America and the Art of the Possible. In the classic Greek sense, the term isnt pejorative, he says, but a proper elite that takes care of the country and governs it well so that everyone prospers.

The con here is that Buskirk claims that an oligarchy is "an extractive elite", but his mates will be "a productive elite". Of course, they won't - the inclusion of Trump Jr. alone disproves that - and even the "chief ethics lawyer in the Bush White House" says this is a "pay to play" network. But the names here are those hoping to grab control when Trump kicks the bucket, and keep the money funnel flowing, to them. The question is whether they can fool the MAGA gullible as well as Trump Sr. did. Or just take over command of ICE, the bad bits of the military and so on, to remain in power without elections.

(2,895 posts)1. So basically they'd be the Deep State, except they'd actually exist
And magafolk will be fine with it since this is a Deep State that (publicly at least) rides Donald Trump's jock just like they do, so, all good.
Right, lurking MAGAts?
