If you've been here long enough, you've seen this movie before

The blatant violation of Constitutional rights, the illegal acts of repression, the brutality and total lack of any human empathy.

Alongside the speechifying and handwringing as a substitute for action.

Just once I would love to see some accountability.

Pushing 70 here, seen this too many times and not optimistic.

Your mileage may vary.

I thought Reagan and the Bushes were awful but the awful and evil has gone to a whole new level! And that fact that 40% of this country is still in favor of the attentions of this evil dictator orange piggy turd is appalling to say the least! I remember as a kid watching the horrors of Vietnam but this is the worst in my lifetime.

The murders of the students there and at Jackson State and the cover ups remind me of this. I had a history class at Kent State on the 25th anniversary of the shootings that did a parallel study of the cover ups of the My Lai Massacre and the Kent State shooting. The Kent State shooting was instigated by a dude in teh national guard who was a bully in high school to the first dude that the guard shot. He was resentful that the kid he bullied was in college and wanted to assert his dominance (sounds a lot like the ICE guys of today).

The agitating of the crouds and trying to incite a response reminds me of the ways that the FBI and CIA tried to get civil rights groups, particularly the Black Panthers to respond in kind so that they could justify all sorts of evils unleashed on them.

ICE operating without warrants in areas that they have no jurisdiction reminds me of the CIA being used on the same groups of civil rights activities.

The difference that I see was that killing 4 white college kids and a picture on the cover of the major news magazine of the day of a HS girl holding a dead college student moved a country to no longer stand for Nixon's lies -- at least about the war.
