Quiet piggy! We're having midterms whether you like it or not and we're going to win them!
Sadly I wrote the title, no one said that to Trump but one can dream.
Here's the deal: I think all the speculation back and forth about if we will have midterms or not isn't productive. We should instead focus on doing everything we can to prepare to win the midterms protect their integrity and if for some reason we don't have them let's focus on being prepared for what we'll do if we don't have them. In Timothy Synder's book On Tyranny he has two relevant lessons: "Don't comply in advance" and "Be prepared when the unthinkable happens".
Not doing the work because you think we might not have midterms is complying in advance. Having plans in place to protect the midterms' integrity and for the unlikely event that we don't have them at all is better than speculating but not doing anything about it.
Part of the work we should be doing in the midterms is volunteering and talking to as many people as possible as a part of canvasing. This is an opportunity to change the minds of people who might not be aware of what's going on. This means if we can get less people to support Trump his support will be weaker meaning that there's fewer people who will be "with him" if we tries to do something bad.
