Is anyone else following the Buddhist monks' Walk For Peace?

I am (it's on Facebook, but doubtless elsewhere, too) and I'm so inspired by it. I'm Christian, but I really love this. And they are accompanied by a formerly stray dog from India who was injured along the way and is now being rehabbed in NC. The dog is adorable. The monks are walking from Fort Worth to DC to raise awareness of the need for peace without and within.

They'll pass east of me a couple of hours, through Richmond I think, but my thoughts are certainly with them. May all beings be well and happy and peaceful. And may Aloka the peace dog rejoin them soon.

I first met two Tibetan Buddhist Monks (who had escaped Tibet) when I was in college; they came to our philosophy class many times. They were truly the most phenomenal, pure human beings I had ever, or will ever meet - who embodied what they believed and taught. If evolution was truly a thing, these are the human beings who would be what we all aspire to be.

hitting these walkers for peace? There are also reports of people rolling down their car windows and screaming at them that "they know nothing about peace"! Some people here are truly fucked!

We had thousands of people there. They stopped at the Statehouse, where they mingled with the anti-Trump protesters who show up every weekend.

I'm not anything and greatly appreciate what they're doing. Putting their bodies on the line. We need more of that.

Makes me absolutely sick. I've been calling them out where I see their stupid comments. The monks are walking for peace. They are not pushing anything on anyone, and there is NO REASON why everyone should not embrace their goal of promoting peace. The so called "Christians" who have a problem with this are not people I'd care to associate with.

Aloka is such a good ambassador! I'm so glad he is getting the care that he needs, and the monks have been very careful to keep people informed and to allow him time for healing, etc.

I wish they had been where I could go and witness it and get a bracelet!
