Remember Wayne LaPierre's 1995 "Jack-Booted Thugs" letter?
...the one the NRA sent out in 1995 calling ATF agents "jack-booted thugs"?
(excerpt)
"I doesn't matter to them that the Brady Law has become one more tool that government agents are using to deny the Constitutional rights of law abiding citizens.
It doesn't matter to them that the semi-auto ban gives jack-booted government thugs more power to take away our Constitutional rights, break in our doors, seize our guns, destroy our property, and even injure or kill us."
I wonder if any of them take a minute to think about how their anti-immigrant political cottage industry brought them to today where actual "jack-booted government thugs (have) more power to take away our Constitutional rights, break in our doors, seize our guns, destroy our property, and even injure or kill us?"
I'm as cynical as anyone about republican ability to have an honest thought, but I do wonder if they've had that thought yet as they watch their own neighborhoods they may have believed were immune and safe from the hell they agreed to unleash on others among them, about the source of all of the goddamn nerve Trump must have as he's basically attacking them?
Not amounting to anything that resembles standing up to him, of course, seeing how they're already lower than snakes genuflecting to him.
