Trump announced Saturday that multiple European countries would face a tariff on all goods sent to the United States until the U.S. secures a deal for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland.
World Peace is at stake! he wrote on Truth Social, adding that both China and Russia want Greenland, which is now a territory of Denmark.

He then declared that beginning Feb. 1, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland would be facing a 10% Tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States, which will be increased to 25% in June.
This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland, he wrote.

(4,318 posts)The extortion winds up being against us, not those countries. WE pay the results of the tarriffs being imposed, not the exporters. They only lose the income from the trade between us, which they can easily replace by selling to the other 194 countries in the world (absent sanctions for certain things).

(21,901 posts)No one ever really knows what Trump "knows," because he will only admit that which supports his agenda.
I don't think that he "listens to no one." I think he listens and just doesn't care.
So it's not as if he's never been told WE pay the tariffs, or if he's known all along, and just doesn't care.
In terms of "spirit of intent," it's the same mindset that led him to the phone call to Georgia, "I NEED YOU TO FIND VOTES..."
So he thinks he's being "tough" with these countries, but he's also twisting the knife in the backs of Americans who "haven't shown him enough appreciation for all of the great things he's done."
