Locals in Russias Kamchatka Peninsula are calling it a snow apocalypse after record-breaking snowfall buried towns, blocked roads, and forced a state of emergency, with snow piling up to building levels in some areas.

(1,770 posts)Living on the northeastern shore of Lake Erie when a hard cold southwest wind blows across the entire length of the lake can be quite an adventure. Since the winter of 2000 there has been 5 incredible lake effect events that have produced 6-7 feet of snow in 24-48 hour periods, with 10-15 ft drifts, often with blizzard conditions. I have to hire a front loader to get rid of the snow! But there has never been anything as dangerous as the Buffalo Blizzard of 1977. Look that one up. An unforgettable 3 day storm.

A local resident dug his car out of...a five-meter snowdrift (3 videos) and became a social media staraccording to him, he parked it there because snow usually doesn't pile up there 🥶
