Video Analysis of ICE Shooting Sheds Light on Contested Moments (gift link)

This is the video that has been shown numerous times on MSNOW. This is the type of evidence that will convict that ICE asshole who murdered Renee Good

President Trump and members of his administration have said that Renee Good, the woman killed by a federal agent in Minneapolis on Jan. 7, “weaponized her vehicle” against the agent who shot her — an interpretation they claim is confirmed by the agent’s cellphone video.

“She didn’t try to run him over,” Mr. Trump said on the day of the shooting. “She ran him over.”

That description has been contested by local and state officials, who have blamed the federal government for the tension, saying aggressive tactics that violate police protocol had stirred unrest. Demonstrators have taken to the streets nationwide to protest the killing of Ms. Good, a U.S. citizen. The administration has responded by sending 1,000 additional agents to Minnesota.

In a video analysis, The Times focuses on some of the key contested moments of the agent’s cellphone video alongside other footage. More videos are likely to emerge, but the visual evidence shows no indication that the agent who fired the shots, Jonathan Ross, had been run over. The footage provides visibility into the positioning between the agent and Ms. Good’s S.U.V., and the key moments of escalation. It also establishes how Mr. Ross put himself in a dangerous position near her vehicle in the first place.

I looked at Honda Pilot's front grills from 2006 to 2025 and none of them look like this car.

I want this guy too, however, I'm not sure Trump's choice of words after the fact, and even doubling down on them verbosely, is going to be the deciding evidence in the trial.

I'm no lawyer, but don't these generally come down to shooter state of mind and reasonableness of response, as opposed to some third party asshole's commentary after the fact?

I'm not sure ICE would need to first be physically under a vehicle, or first sustain a blow, to be justified in shooting. I believe the standard is more or less, was he reasonably in fear he was immanently likely to be under the vehicle, and was the response reasonable.

Trump's comments mean jack, per usual, but of course we're talking about him again...

ICE officers are trained to never approach a vehicle from the front and instead to approach in a
“tactical L” 90-degree angle to prevent injury or cross-fire, a senior Department of Homeland
Security official told NBC News.
Officers are also instructed not to shoot at a moving vehicle and only to use force if there is an
immediate risk of serious injury or death, the official said.
ICE officers are also instructed that firing at a vehicle will not make it stop moving in the direction
of the officer.

Ross screwed up. Had he followed his training, assuming he was properly trained, Mz. Good would still be alive.

There’s also the issue of the 2nd and 3rd shots. Ross was clearly out of danger at that time as videos show but he shot Mz. Good twice through the open side window.
