1. Exactly right. By accepting a sloppy-seconds "Peace Prize" he's tacitly acknowledging

that it wasn't actually awarded to him; that the NPP committee didn't think he was worthy of it so he had to get a symbol of it second-hand from the person it did consider worthy. He's been reminded that the NPP itself isn't transferrable, but as someone who seems incapable of abstract thinking, he can delude himself into thinking that possessing the medal ("My Preciousss!" ) actually means he won something (and he also has the same physical object that Obama got for real, which has to be a big deal for him).

Then he can use brute force to hand pick the committee. To a guy like Trump the triumph results in being able to force people to bend to his will—the ethics are for suckers like us.

a "partipiation medal" for him, pot metal very thinly plated with gold or maybe even made entirely of brass, sending a message that most of the world would clearly read but which he is far too stupid to get, like the fact tha Machado is the Peace Prize Laureate and always will be, while he just possesses a chunk of metal on a ribbon.
