One of the things I hear more frequently discussed in this MAGA/Tech oligarch fixation on Europe......

...... at least on social media, perhaps not so much the MSM, is that there are "few things harder to put up with than a good example."
There's the bluster about "preserving Western civilization" and preserving Europe's whiteness, but the actual target is the fact that well-regulated capitalism with a strong social safety net works. They've just about destroyed it here, so their target is Western Europe. fElon Musk and the tech oligarchs are out to kill the EU's efforts to regulate them.
Again, there's no MSM discussion of this, but I'm hearing it more and more from the social media I consume.

“useless eaters”, the poor, sick and elderly.
Everyone else will be poorer, less healthy with little to no insurance, and less educated.
This will leave a class of people who are so desperate for work they will take whatever
menial job they can get, leaving them hanging on by their fingernails just to exist.
Most current events lead to this scenario.

which I think is the least evil way people have done it. If there's anything that is voluntary, it's paying over the odds for status symbols.

Ortega owns the Zara and Bershka clothing and accessories shops. He is considered a pioneer in fast fashion. That's environmentally bad, but that makes 2 Europeans in the top 19, and one had the most willing buy-in of his marks. And neither is in the class of "take over the world" that Musk, Ellison, Bezos of Zuckerberg are.
