Daniel Hannon (UK House of Lords) on the danger of Dumpf

In his responses to many replies to his tweet, he defends himself by clarifying that he doesn't support the reasons voters wanted Dumpf, but that he was just stating what perceptions were motivating some of the voters.

A lot of good people are on a hook over Donald Trump. They voted for him for understandable reasons: to stop Hillary of Kamala, to prevent court-packing, to move the embassy to Jerusalem, to reduce regulations.

They rightly applauded his toughening of immigration policy. They began to feel invested in him. Sure, he was boorish and bombastic, but he was delivering most of what he was elected to do. Naturally, they bridled at criticism from people they disliked, some of which was indeed absurd.

But he has plainly now lost his mind. There is no other way of reading “I am going to threaten an ally with invasion because I didn’t get the Nobel Peace Prize”.

It is impossible to exaggerate how high the stakes are. If Putin had put an agent in the White House, what would would be doing differently?

We are talking about the survival of the Western way of life, about the world order of which the United States is the chief exemplar and beneficiary. That, surely, matters more than “liberal tears”. Doesn’t it? Because if it doesn’t, we are all damned.

This. Except for the part about 'good people' and 'understandable reasons' not to vote for Hillary and Kamala, two completely boring, normal, moderate candidates.

Trump wasn't just bombastic - he was a known serial lier, rapist and pedophile friend, authoritarian, racists and sexist apologist, and overall awful human beings with no morals, decency, or commitment to uphold the law or American values.

All of this was predictable. If you voted for, or supported Trump at any stage, you are part of the problem and forfeit the right to have any opinion about this country forever.

---

This is absolutely right. These idiots think Hillary was responsible for Epstein. They wholly absolve Trump who ran on exposing a pedophile ring of which he was a primary actor. These are the dumbest people on earth but also racist & fascist. Trump is their America.

---

Trump had always been a conscienceless, grandiose, mentally unfit malignant narcissist. There was never a justification for giving a sadistic narcissistic psychopath power. Some of us warned of this during the 2016 GOP primaries.

---

To be honest, I am so happy D. Trump wrote this letter to the Norvegian President.
Now there is no doubt anymore that he can not be taken seriously, that he needs to be replaced.
From an international perspective it is ridiculous, not serious, and just a temporary situation.
I hope, a good, honorable successor and a good team will be installed soon.

---

You all vote for Trump because he promised to destroy the lives of trans people, and ignored all the crazy things he promised to do. Now he's doing the crazy things. If he was just destroying people like me, you'd be fine with this.

Zero sympathy
Sooo many more !

If you look at this record, it's pretty clear he does support most of the reasons people gave for voting for Trump muriel_volestrangler 16 hrs ago #4

He is a right-wing ultra Brexiteer (eg in 2016, he suggested Americans should vote for Gary Johnson of the Libertarian party). He was a "lockdown sceptic". He's just decided that it's time to speak out about Trump being senile. I bet he'd happily back Vance.

He just thinks Trump is dangerously senile. He hates Putin, but you can't really give people many points for such a basic stance as "Putin is evil".
