Listening to this completely fucking insane excuse of a press conference, I can't help thinking about all of the folks who helped get us to this point. I say this because this lunatic didn't get to where he is now without tens of millions of complete fucking losers who simply didn't give a shit enough to think beyond their own little bubbles to consider the bigger picture.
Are you proud of your past votes and/or non-votes? Are you proud of what you have aided and abetted in reducing America to? Do you have even a shred of regret or shame or embarrassment for what, under your watch, has happened to the beautiful experiment that is (was?) the United States of America? Unless you completely hated America to begin with - in which case, you are now presumably filled with glee.
Maybe you claim not to have known how badly things might turn out...That your single solitary vote and/or non-vote didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Today, watching the living embodiment of Hitler resurrected...ranting from behind the seal of the President of the United States...do you finally get it? Or, do empathy and understanding still elude you?
The gauntlet was laid down a long time ago...Only some of you chose not to recognize it. The choice we now face in the United States is not between one flavor of Democracy or another, leaning either more centrist or more progressive, dividing ourselves in the progress. We ceded that choice when we opened the door to totalitarianism. The choice now is a stark one, that between sanity and insanity.

(71,776 posts)misogynists will tell you they are proud that they didn't vote for Hillary Clinton. And racists will tell you they are proud that they didn't vote for Kamala Harris.
Don't go looking for anything of value in that disgusting sludge of defective human protoplasm that Trump calls his voting base.

(28,790 posts)Trump got the benefit of the doubt, something demonized Democrats never get.
What probably happened was the expected audience of left and right populists who hate Democrats didn't materialize. Why the revolution didn't happen either. Their mistake is assuming right-wingers just have to be told they're voting against their own economic interests and they'll turn into progressive populists. Wrong.
Oh well, that's show business!

(6,374 posts)Certainly an irrational, or as you parsed it, a 'lunatic,' position for anyone, from president or student to hold.
