I was watching an interesting (to me) video last night about trauma - the concept relates to what Trump is doing.
I've seen this concept discussed before, but never in a true medical setting until I ran across a video last night that was put out by a doctor. I want to kick myself because I didn't save the link or any information about it.
The body reacts to trauma, as we all know. But many people don't understand what constitutes "trauma". It isn't always necessarily some life-altering, negative mega life event. It can be cumulative (i.e., many smaller traumatic events over time). People are subjected to continual small trauma events can develop PTSD almost in the same way as, say, veterans.
Heaven knows we've all been subject to some major traumatic event daily since Trump took office. I think that is part of their plan to wear people down, make people become apathetic, and have more control over the population at large. I know that *I* feel it.
SO...we need to all be cognizant of how things are affecting us. Take breaks, take a walk, get some fresh air if possible, and remember that we need to all be strong to fight this absolute chaos. But to be strong, we have to be healthy and functional. We also need to watch our fellow, like-minded family and friends and be available to them should they need to vent, etc.
As we celebrate the 25th birthday of DU today, let's remember that we are a community and that there is strength in community. Take what you need; give when you can.
Hugs!!!
