This was at a groundbreaking ceremony last week in upstate Clay, New York, for Microns new memory manufacturing facility project which could ultimately consist of four labs, a total investment of $100 billion and create around 50,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The project was made possible by a $6.1 billion grant from President Joe Bidens CHIPS Act which received paltry Republican support and has been criticized (though not scotched) by President Trump.
When Lutnick is asked why Trump should get any credit for jobs created by the Chips and Science Act, Schumer intervenes on behalf of Lutnick, who then ignores the question and gives a commercial for the Trump Administration.
The reporter gave Schumer a chance to tell the Democratic side of the story after the ceremony where his most memorable quote was, Todays a day for bipartisanship.
The relevant portion of the clip runs from 3:59-9:59.

(50,994 posts)What does Schumer care about in this situation? You cant seriously be suggesting that he gives a fuck about Lutnick. The only plausible explanation is he is concerned about possible retribution against the project or State in the form of cancelled subsidies. Whether that is good motive is certainly up for discussion.

All he had to do was let Lutnick dodge the question without his help and then chime in with an anodyne statement about the potential for government and business to work together as evidenced by the CHIPS Act.
You tell me what he did right there.

Something Lutnick had nothing to do with except trying to take false credit.
Why do you think Democrats should shy away from promoting our OWN party's initiatives that Democrats brought into being, that benefit Democratic constituencies?
What kind of advocacy for Democrats bashes people promoting Democratic initiatives that help their constituents??

(1,163 posts)This is why we can't have nice things. There will never be meaningful change with these middle of the roaders. The wealthy have bought out just enough politicians that even if Democrats have majorities, they don't have ENOUGH of a majority to overcome the dead weight.

(32,352 posts)Our political party and our nation cannot survive the shameful, trump-enabling actions of Schumer and Jeffries. Every day we get more evidence that when it comes to the fight against the police-state actions of the trump regime, Democrats are on their own, without the benefit of principled, courageous party leadership. Enough.

If people are suggesting that Democrats should consider retribution from Krasnov before speaking then we are totally lost, totally fucked.
Let Krasnov try to scrap the project, he would be tarred a feathered.
As Jason crow said a couple days ago, there are 2 camps of Democrats, those who have courage and want to fight, and those who want to wait Trump out and beat him at the ballot box.

(93,496 posts)...and has a similar grudge against Schumer for his support of Israel.
Schumer didn't do anything here but defend the CHIPS ACT that he and Biden had a hand in passing which Trump and Lutnick is now taking credit for.
Schumer:
.Q. ..the president opposed the Chips and Science Act. Why should he get to take any credit for the jobs that it's creating?
SCHUMER: Can I say that there's we're not looking for one side or the other? We're working together to make this thing happen in my state..."
...Schumer got wind of the appearance by Lutnick and went there to head him off and prevent him from siphoning off credit for the initiative Democrats had enacted. It's fucking Schumer's state, and his initiative, ffs. This wasn't coddling Lutnick, it was setting the record straight, something which Seder is deliberately muddling here for his petty attack on Schumer.
The CHIPS and Science Act combines two bipartisan bills: the Endless Frontier Act, designed to boost investment in domestic high-tech research, and the CHIPS for America Act, designed to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S. The act is aimed at competing with China.
The bill was signed into law by President Joe Biden on August 9, 2022.
The Endless Frontier Act was initially presented to senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Todd Young (R-IN) by Under Secretary of State Keith Krach in October 2019, as part of the Global Economic Security Strategy to boost investment in high-tech research vital to U.S. national security. The plan was to grow $150 billion in government R&D funding into a $500 billion investment, with matching investments from the private sector and a coalition of technological allies dubbed the "Techno-Democracies-10" (TD-10).
On May 27, 2020, Young and Schumer, along with Congressmen Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Mike Gallagher (R-WI.), introduced the bipartisan, bicameral Endless Frontier Act...

Seder not only doesn't know what he's talking about, thinks defending DEMOCRATIC initiatives is defending Lutnock, and there isn't a day that goes by that he's not bashing the Democratic party like he ratfucked Biden.
WHY DO PEOPLE STILL LISTEN TO THESE ASSHOLES WHO LOST US THE LAST ELECTION?
Yesterday it was a thread by ratfucker Norman Solomon, now it's this 'Gaza' demagoaue who can ony think of tearing the party down. Basically an anarchist, but sure, let's glom on to bash our own Democratic leader.

...it's about jobs for New York, Who here is opposed to the CHIPS Act and the jobs it's helping create in states like the senators'?
Who here is railing against this Democratic initiative, or thinks Lutnick is responsible for it? They need to educate themselv3es.
Seder is not only trying to distract from this landmark DEMOCRATIC achievement, but he's demagoguing Schumer like he demagogued Biden, Harris, and Schumer on Gaza.
This isn't Democratic advocacy, it's the same kind of ratfucking Seder did in the presidential election.
