(31,173 posts)and never have I experienced anything even close to that cold. I literally start crying when I see what Minnesotans are doing and strongly believe that the rest of us all through this country should be out demonstrating and protesting and marching as well.
As Dr Griffin says, none of us are safe until all of us are safe.

(10,681 posts)It did not get much better as the day wore on either. This kind of cold actually hurts at times, even though we all do have the proper gear to be out in it.
That said, the protests today were massive in Minneapolis, and given the weather, that should tell everyone something about their dedication to get rid of ICE asap.

(17,374 posts)I have to commend every last one of these Minnesotans for going out in this weather. I only had to be out in it for a short time and it was brutal and I'm someone who grew up in a small rural town right on Lake Erie where the winters were like this almost every year, so I'm a fairly intrepid person.

(7,943 posts)Minnesootans are the best. I was there at a university during a heat wave, and my friends pointed out that every winter routine snowfall would pile up up to the height of the crash-bars on the university doors - like waist-high. My reports of how a a mere foot of snowfall at home could close everything down made them chuckle. Since they do it every year they are acclimated to cold and snow and have equipment and expectation to deal with it and know how to drive in winter weather.
