Keep wondering what he meant when he said during the 2024 campaign, "I don't need your vote."

(3,045 posts)He lost the popular vote in 2016 and that chips at his legitimacy. The question of legitimacy now is different and more scary.

(15,098 posts)Moreover - the only really salient answer to this query is - '"Does yours (or mine) or anyone's personal opinion really have any relevance here?" Is the man not de facto currently seated in the White House? Do you think that is going to change .. ? Today - tomorrow? So, again - relevance .. ?

(16 posts)Did ask 2x today-my mistake (thought the first one didn't got through) but have not asked before. Yes--at some other level it does really matter. Alas, also not totally impossible that someone who might have been involved could at some point have a change of heart due to the horrible consequences of Trump's policies and spill the beans. This is a place for thoughts and wonderings, among other things.

(15,098 posts)and, by the way - welcome to the site.
And, yes, you are correct in that the purpose is discussion and exchange of information and views. Having said that - I think I'm going to stick with my position in that the 'legitimate' question tends toward the inane and serves little or no purpose. The 'history books' might at some point weigh in differently .... But - for right now ... This is what we've got.

Google AI:
In demonology and historical accounts of demonic possession, the appearance or presence of the devil and lower-ranking demons is frequently associated with intense, repulsive odors. While sulfur (brimstone/rotten eggs) is the most commonly cited scent, the smell of human excrement, sewage, or rotting flesh is also a recognized marker of demonic manifestation.
Key Aspects of this Association in Demonology:
Sin Made Material: In medieval theology, particularly according to German Pietists, bodily waste was not merely a symbol of sin, but an embodiment of it. Excrement was viewed as "sin made material," similar to how ice is a form of water.
"Unclean Spirits": Demons are often called "unclean spirits" in biblical contexts (Matthew 12:43-45). This lack of holiness is interpreted in demonology as a physical, noxious stench, contrasting with the "sweet smell" of sanctity or holy relics.
Physical Manifestation (Vexation): In accounts of demonic vexation, saints have reported instances where excrement appeared out of nowhere during attacks.
Me: also appeared in COURT--- or at least the SMELL of it!
