(150,742 posts)Trump can federalize the guard with a signature.
The second he does that, Walz loses all control of the MN National Guard. Walz knows that. He is being careful.
Still, people who are nowhere near any of this seem to believe they have the answers to everything.

(3,710 posts)They don't appear to be any different than the insurrectionists 5 years ago.
And they have the same agitator at the helm this time.
Not sure wisdom is going to win the day, but the good guys are being called to save us from this police state.
Schumer and Jeffries aren't coming to the rescue. There is no one leader with the power to stop trump. The repubs who chastised the insurrectionists flipped within days.
I don't see the citizens in Minneapolis giving up. If they do, trump will raise the stakes.
Trump has already deployed the police state.
I see the big conflict boiling down to citizen's desire to protect their neighbors with the xenophobist's inability to accept the fallibility of their arguments.
It is the Lost Cause persistence on full display.

(150,742 posts)You can't "give in," because you're not directly involved. You can't fight, because you're not here. You can, however make noises to that effect. I don't think that's going to do much, though.
