So, guns DON'T necessarily protect you from jackbooted government thugs, after all

Man shot had no criminal record, was lawful gun owner: Police chief

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara provided some details about the shooting Saturday and said the victim was a 37-year old white Minneapolis resident.

"We believe he is an American citizen," he said.

Police Chief Brian O'Hara said that the shooting victim's only interaction with law enforcement was traffic tickets.

"We believe he is a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry," the chief said of the man shot by federal agents on Saturday.

Minnesota's gun laws permit open carrying a handgun as long as the gun owner has a valid permit.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said videos show masked agents “pummeling one of our constituents and shooting him to death,” and he denounced the “impunity” of federal agents operating in the city. Gov. Tim Walz called on President Donald Trump to pull ICE out of Minneapolis and allow Minnesota to lead an investigation into the shooting.

That was never true. It's not owning firearms that protects you. It never has been. It's something else.

And an absolute 'invitation' to mayhem.

I don't know if this man's shooting had anything to do with his 'carry' .... But it is still a monumentally dumbass idea!

DHS came right out and said that the man was carrying a gun with the intent to commit a massacre.

In fact he was standing in the street filming with a phone when ICE agents decided they wanted to wrestle him to the ground, at which point they discovered he had a weapon on him and shot him to death. It turns out that he was carrying the weapon legally.

The right are always screaming about the left wanting to take their guns, but in essence what happened here is that Trump's Department of Homeland Security is straight up saying that any white middle-aged man legally carrying a concealed handgun should be automatically suspected of intent to commit a massacre, and should expect to be shot dead in the street by federal agents.

That is is significantly more extreme than any left-wing-gun-grabber narrative that the right could come up with, and yet that is the narrative DHS is going with.

...to the point they've built political empires for generations now on the premise that they should be allowed to be armed to the hilt to defend themselves for that very reason?

Where the fuck are they now? THEY'RE the jackbooted thugs.

Whose side are they on?
