5. To be fair, MAGA never HAD Bill Kristol.

He has horrible economic views and is one of the worst among the neocon types when it comes to foreign policy. But as far as I know, he has been very consistently on the right side of things when it comes to Trump.

Those neocons and their Middle East policies were arrogant and disastrous. It's so easy to rearrange the world's players from the comfort of one's home as if playing a game of chess. Most of them had no skin in the game and made no sacrifices.

However I agree, Kristol never embraced Trump or MAGA.

Reform ICE sounds better.
Better training
Better background checks
New name to reflect the change.
The goal is the same, why repeat past mistakes and hand rethugs an easy tool to be used again?

He's an annoying and obnoxious pro-war GOPer, but pretty savvy. His interest is NOT in helping Democrats - he's more likely worried what the ICE debacle is doing to the future of his beloved "conservative" party

19. At one time I would've agreed with you. No More. Fire every single one of them. Dissolve ICE entirely.

And then prosecute the ones where we have proof that they participated in illegal activities.

Yes, we will always need some level of immigration enforcement, but at this point, ICE as an institution is too tainted. We have to start over from scratch with new rules, new regulations, new hiring requirements, etc.

We need to pass a true immigration reform bill, much like what Obama what trying to get passed (and almost succeeded). Secure the border. Make citizenship easier to acquire. Make it easier for people to get asylum. And as part of that bill, we can create a new institution for enforcing immigration laws and it should only be used to detain and deport hard criminals. If we get the first part right, this new entity should have very little work to do.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.
