(129,516 posts)about their opposition to ICE. They have been anything but silent, but unfortunately state and local police have no power over federal law enforcement. The governor has called out the MN National Guard to assist the police in de-escalation.

By your argument, if an fbi agent decides to hold up a gas station, local police cant arrest him. Its nonsense.
Every ice convoy to leave their hq could be accompanied/followed by a local pd vehicle. With body cams and vehicle cameras. Police officers do have the ability to arrest other LE who they personally observe breaking the law. They certainly can give testimony in court about what they personally observe.
I suspect if legitimate law enforcement was present to observe (as opposed to to collaborate) and enforce the laws, ice would get a lot less likely to blatantly break the law in their presence.
