1). Let's not even PRETEND that Miller, Vought, Vance, Noem, Patel, Bondi, etc have ANY "FEELINGS" for Trump. They are all VIPERS. Trump CHOSE them because he believed he'd have their loyalty, their fealty, and that their very presence would piss off the American people. But they are VIPERS, and VIPERS only know "opportunity," not "loyalty."
2). The MAGAts are going to have an addiction to Grampy as long as he is breathing. They would only "ACCEPT" Trump stepping down if they were convinced that it was SOLELY HIS IDEA to DO so. And he wouldn't to that in a MILLION YEARS unless Thiel and the vipers came up with a "severance package"...a BRIBE...that rewarded him financially, and to his satisfaction, and ONLY if stepping down appeared to be HIS idea, and only if stepping down could be framed as the most heroic act in the history of heroic, self-sacrificing acts, and that's not who Trump is AT ALL, so the bribe would have to be HUGE and PERPETUAL. He wouldn't be appeased with only ONE "direct deposit" of billions. Thiel would have to spoon him baby food in the form of CASH until he headed off for his dirt nap, so he'd have to be given a PERCENTAGE in SOMETHING that perpetually PAID HUGE DIVIDENDS.
3). An uncertain number of MAGAts WILL NOT VOTE in 2028 if Trump is NOT on the ballot. And yes, I've followed the debate regarding Trump's unconstitutional "third term" and you PROBABLY SAW the posts about him asking, a few days ago, if he should run for a FOURTH term, when he'd be EIGHTY SIX YEARS OLD, and the response to THAT was "cleanup on aisle MAGAt."
4). Vance's total lack of charisma would become painfully obvious the second he fully stepped into Trump's spotlight.
5). Miller and Vought would not relinquish one OUNCE of their "shadow president" status if Thiel "succeeded" in "installing" Vance. They'd have to be given "assurances" that Vance would only exist as a puppet, a "front," like the fake town that was constructed in "Blazing Saddles."

(7,734 posts)What will be hugely interesting is to watch the scorpions in the jar sting each other to death. No one likes Miller or Vance. Theil has a following among billionaire psychopaths, but no popular base-- a wild card.
In the absence of a charismatic leader unifying them, they will have to expend tremendous amounts of capital to retain power. It will be unsustainable, but could further wreck the nation before it collapses.
We need to focus longterm about the reconstitution of our democracy and civic institutions after they collapse. It will require a detailed plan that deconstructs Project 2025.

(34,710 posts)They're all in it for themselves, which is why they're all rushing to grab whatever power they can before the Grim Reaper comes for Trump. At the rate they're going, I'm guessing they're seeing Mr. Death about to walk up the front porch steps. They all hate each other, and they know that the cult don't like them, either. Once Dear Leader is gone, it's over for them. It might not happen immediately, but it's coming.

(22,035 posts)...it's set in early Sixties Hollywood. There is a drive-in restaurant named Tubby's that is the local hangout for young people, including the car club The Hollywood Nights.
The movie takes place on the final day that Tubby's is open, scheduled for demolition so that an office complex can be built on the property.
There are two younger guys in the car club, and one of them is mourning the demise of Tubby's, and the fact that The Hollywood Knights has been getting fewer "recruits" each year, and the other guy tells him "It's OK. WE can still hang out."
And that will be what happens with Trump. The clubhouse will close. I don't see JD Vance pulling huge crowds at "rallies." The MAGAts will all look around for someone to hang out with. Once again, society will reject their ignorance and racism. They'll be "alone together," to steal a concept from Dave Mason.
The MATCH that lit the FUSE of Trump's political career was his predatory skill at identifying marks / victims. He knew that he only had to tell the MAGAts what they wanted to hear and he could then get whatever he wanted from them in return...votes, cash, you name it.
And I don't think Vance has that "gift." I don't think he has the ability to bring large numbers of people to gather around him, especially if it's under false pretenses, like Trump. I think the MAGAts TOLERATE Vance, as long as he's parroting what Trump is saying, but I don't see any evidence that they LIKE or LOVE him in a way that would smoothly result in his ascension to the throne.
And the Don Jr rumblings...saying he's "thought about" the presidency, saying he believes he is the true heir to the MAGAt throne...I don't see that happening.
I remember a particularly squirm-inducing appearance by Lynne Cheney on TV, during Dubya's last year in office. Lynne was especially creepy that day, very smiley and self-satisfied, and she said that LAURA BUSH should run for president in order to CONTINUE THE BUSH "DYNASTY."
And we know how America felt about that.
