Former Trump Adviser Says Americans Eat Too Much as Inflation Squeezes Household Budgets

Former Trump economic adviser Stephen Moore said Americans eat too much processed food while defending the administration’s approach to food affordability, remarks that drew criticism as inflation continues to squeeze household budgets.

Moore made the comments during an appearance on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” responding to backlash over a claim by Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins that a healthy meal can cost about three dollars. Rollins said in a recent NewsNation interview that the Department of Agriculture ran extensive simulations suggesting a nutritious meal built around items such as chicken and vegetables could be prepared for roughly that amount.

They should keep it up.

Assholes, the lot of them.

I mean, in general, most Americans eat the best they can. It could be income holding them back from eating better food. It could be that their parents cooked crap and that’s what they’ve learned to eat. It could be they actually like processed food.

It’s just remarkable that our society shifted away from victory gardens to conveniently prepared foods that help support capitalism and now it’s *our* fault?

Fuck them all.

two Big Macs AND two Filet-o-Fish,
OR
one Big Mac, one Quarter Pounder with Cheese, AND one Filet-o-Fish,
(reporting varies)

AND, in either case, one Large French Fries

PLUS in some reports a Milk Shake.

Someone eats too much, to be sure, but that is not the source of many Americans' current struggles with food costs.

According to a book co-written by Corey Lewandowski (Trump's 2016 campaign manager), this was Donnie's "standing dinner order" on Trump Force One: two Big Macs, two Filet-o-Fish, and a "chocolate malted" (actually a shake--McDonalds doesn't serve malts).

Anyone remember this scene?

He is charitably employed at The Heritage Foundation. Trump nominated him for the Fed Board but even Republicans wouldn’t go along.

Harvard economics professor Greg Mankiw said that Moore "does not have the intellectual gravitas" for the position

Groomed in the Chicago economic school (Friedman) and at the very conservative George Mason U economics program.

Second
I actually saw a concerted effort on Twitter to back up what Rollins said.

If food is too expensive, eat less? That's his great idea? Yeah, since that's the idea of an idiot, it makes sense it would come from him.
He has the buffoonish view of the world when families only needed one income and mom could stay home preparing healthy meals from scratch.
Except:
1. The need for 2 incomes is the result of economic policies championed by morons like Moore.
2. I'm 69, and my mom made convenience foods, so the time he's channeling hasn't existed for at least 50 years.
Did I mention that Moore is a dolt?
