Omaha mayor urges protesters to practice 'restraint and care' ahead of Sunday demonstration

A rally in Omaha to protest ICE activities in Minneapolis and St. Paul is being held Sunday afternoon in the area of 72nd and Dodge Streets.

The organizers of the event, Nebraska 50501, issued a call Saturday to "show solidarity with the activists" of Minnesota "by organizing a peaceful demonstration to draw attention to how the Trump regime is using ICE to terrorize our communities."

Federal agents fatally shot a man Saturday morning in south Minneapolis, setting off confrontations between protesters and agents at the scene.

It was the second fatal shooting this month involving federal agents who have arrived in Minnesota as part of a massive immigration enforcement operation. Minneapolis residents gathered in city parks Saturday night to light candles and hold vigils after the shooting.
