(4,934 posts)Wasnt keen on Hillary (personal reasons), but I made damn sure I voted for her as well as Kamala when the felt tip pen hit the little black circles on the ballots.
This current unforgivable soulless upheaval will hopefully end with us rising like a phoenix from ashes. Before its too late.
Stay strong everyone!

(1,705 posts)And sometimes it takes an elder to explain to the young-
not to touch the hot stove.
I try to teach GenZ but all I get is
"Okay, Boomer"
Boomer was a character in both Battlestar Galactica series.
So, lost on me.
You can't teach those who don't want to know...
"We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song"

(28,842 posts)From Kamala Harris' "107 Days"
"Gore Vidal called them 'the four most beautiful words in our common language': 'I told you so.' I disagree, I don't think they're beautiful, and I wish I had no cause to say them. ... His victory was whisker-thin. ... Two-thirds of us did not choose this man or his agenda. That's why I have no patience for anyone saying, I'm giving up on America because America wanted this. We did not. ... It is not too late for us, but we need to think both strategically and tactically."
Hillary Clinton, "Something Lost, Something Gained":
"Exhausting us is part of the authoritarian playbook. They unleash a torrent of lies not because they think we'll believe all of them, but because they hope we'll eventually be so overwhelmed that we'll give up on the idea of truth and justice completely. They tell us the game is rigged so we won't bother playing. They sling as much mud as they can and say that everyone is corrupt because they want us to get disgusted and walk away.
"Exceptional political talents sometimes come along ... . But most of the time, politics is less like an inspiring episode of The West Wing and more like 'a slow boring of hard boards,' as Max Weber put it. Progress only comes through persistence and usually in fits and starts. It can be demoralizing. ... But the prospect of a better future should also motivate you. ... There are millions of Americans working to defend our democracy every day, in ways big and small. They're volunteering, organizing, donating, even running for office themselves. We can't allow ourselves to be exhausted. Instead, we should channel the strength of Rosa Parks, who dismissed the idea that the only reason she sat down in the front of that bus in Montgomery, Alabama, was because she was tired. 'The only tired I was, was tired of giving in,' she said."
Hillary ends her book with this by Vaclav Havel:
"Everything meaningful in life is distinguished by a certain transcendence of individual human existence -- beyond the limits of mere 'self-care' -- toward other people, toward society, toward the world.... Only by looking outward, by caring for things that, in terms of pure survival, you needn't bother with at all ... and by throwing yourself over and over again into the tumult of the world, with the intention of making your voice count -- only thus will you really become a person."
