I cannot believe that Tim Cook went to White House 2 days after Alex Pretti died and watched a movie with the Trumps. To me, this shows the level of Cook's strategic greed, selfishness, and disdain for the pain this administration has caused. Cook appears to be socially and emotionally unaware of the impact of his actions or how the public might react. This administrations actions are devastating families in MN and are causing pain around the globe for anyone who has a modicum of empathy. I don't know what to do in my community but I do know that I will not buy from Apple. I have an apple phone and I was going to buy a new computer from Apple but I will be looking for suggestions for other computers now or I will buy used (not from Apple).

(4,954 posts)They are cowards and would rather pay the bribe and kiss ass. No different than other companies, law firms, universities, FIFA, etc.

(165 posts)They are sociopaths. I seemed to be dealing with so many of them during my career that I read a book a while back entitled, "Snakes in Suits".

They look very cool. And with their memory for macs, I might not need a new computer. Love that they support right to repair legislation. Thank you Henry203!

Tessa Stuart, Rolling Stone:
On Saturday, the same day that an ICE agent shot and killed ICU nurse Alex Pretti as he was restrained, face first on ground in Minneapolis, a few dozen VIPs including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Queen Rania of Jordan, and former heavy-weight champion Mike Tyson gathered at the White House for a lavish party, complete with custom-made popcorn buckets and gift boxes emblazoned with the first ladys portrait, to celebrate the forthcoming documentary Melania: Twenty Days to History.
Andy Jassy and Mike Hopkins, both of Amazon, were also in attendance, but that is partly explained by the companys $40 million bid for the rights to film part of the brief period between the election and inauguration. $28 million of that went straight into Melania Trumps bank account. Apparently, this is not a bribe or unduly coercive in any way. Imagine that.
Cook, though? He was there because he wanted to be. This was on the same day that, as Stuart writes, agents of the U.S. government murdered a second citizen in Minneapolis in three weeks, and then lied about it. Renée Good and Alex Pretti both embodied courage. Cook chose fealty and, ultimately, cowardice.

(165 posts)I was so incensed, I didn't really check the dates. This is so, so, so bad. Cobert said Pretti was shot in the back multiple times, so depressing and I know you can't tell from a picture but Pretti looks so kind!
