The singer-songwriter has donated access to his music archive to ease the unwarranted stress and threats Greenlanders have experienced from the US government

Neil Young has donated a years worth of access to his music and documentary archive to the people of Greenland after the territorys future became the subject of a fraught dispute with the US.
I hope my music and music films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government, Young wrote in a statement on his website, Neil Young Archives, which offers comprehensive access to the 80-year-old songwriters recorded and live catalogues and other output.
Amazon is owned by Jeff Bezos, a billionaire backer of the president, Young wrote this week. The presidents international policies and his support of ICE make it impossible for me to ignore his actions. If you feel as I do, I strongly recommend that you do not use Amazon. There are many ways to avoid Amazon and support individual Americans and American companies that supply the same products. I have done that with my music and people who are looking can find it in other places.

Prior to Devo, Gerald Casale had played bass guitar with The Numbers Band. He caused friction in the band by suggesting that they should incorporate advertising jingles and other "low culture" elements into their music. After leaving the Numbers Band and graduation, Casale attended Kent State University, majoring in art (focusing on fine/performing arts and fashion-related studies). In the late 1960s, he was a self-described hippie until the May 4, 1970, shootings. Being involved with Freshman orientation at the KSU Honors College, he personally knew two of the victims, Jeffrey Miller and Allison Krause, and was near Krause when she was shot. Casale described that day in multiple interviews as being "the day I stopped being a hippie". Together with Bob Lewis, Casale used the shooting as a catalyst to develop the concept of De-evolution, forming the band Devo in 1973. Casale was the oldest member of the band. He has said that David Bowie's 1974 album Diamond Dogs and its subsequent tour inspired him to "raise the bar" for his work with Devo, stating, "I had seen what it takes to combine theater, concept and music in a three-stage rocket to mind-blowing effect."
And of course Neil Young's OHIO anthem brings these 2 groups full ccircle.

(318 posts)7. Gotta love Neil
Puts his money where his mouth is.
Recording companies today would never back him, theyd say his voice would never sell.
Hes the person of justice for many generations.
