No, not really.

Things that irk foreigners, now and in the past:

The brashness that most project isn't seen as self confidence, it is seen as annoyingly rude and socially inappropriate.

Negotiating and communicating from a self declared higher level of superiority is annoying.

Empty jingoism . . . America is the best country in the world, has the best military, social structures, healthcare, etc.

Lack of insight and empathy, the inability to recognise that in other countries there are other ways to do things that are better or just as good.

Blindness to internal affairs that may involve corruption, cronyism, etc.

And Trump's threats re trade?
It's all of the above, just bullying tactics based on false assumptions.

Just motivates other countries to trade elsewhere and prove Trump wrong!
