After CBS News editor in chief Bari Weiss said she and her team would put a “huge emphasis on scoops,” CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil responded by… interviewing his own mother.

On Tuesday’s (January 27) show, Dokoupil detailed a study that found that grandparents who care for their grandchildren score better on tests of memory and language and decline more slowly than those who do not. To discuss this further, Dokoupil turned to his guest, his mom, Gail.

“I find that they give me a sense of purpose. They energize me more than drive me down,” Gail said of her grandchildren.

Dokoupil, who took over the CBS Evening News earlier this month, has four children: two with his current wife, MS NOW anchor Katy Tur, and two with his ex-wife, Danielle Haas.

They want women in the kitchen, caring for children, grandchildren, and aging relatives.

They don't want to spend money on child care, elder care, or social services. They want women to go to being the unpaid caregivers.

You'll hear this over and over. It's part of the Christian Dominionist goal.

I picked this up watching Fox News (especially in the morning) with my folks. They don’t highlight the upcoming story’s but in WHO will be on to talk about the story. Sec. Duffy’s wife Rachel has been on Fox for years and the weekend shows are basically her show. She discusses how she feels about this and in a as a Mom….” way.

We were watching a football game and something came up about Duke. My mom turned to my stepfather as said “Oh Will Cain won’t like that.” and there was a brief discussion about what he might say. I jumped in to find out who they were talking about only to find out he’s a midafternoon Fox host who apparently went to Duke and talks about it all the time.

This is how QVC works. People tune in for someone’s show mainly because they are like a familiar friend. Fox seems to have gone that route.

Bari Weiss Urges CBS News to Think Like a ‘Start-Up’
“We are not producing a product enough people want,” Ms. Weiss told employees at her first all-staff meeting at the network.
By Michael M. Grynbaum and Benjamin Mullin
Jan. 27, 2026

Bari Weiss, the recently hired and frequently discussed editor in chief of CBS News, began her first networkwide meeting on Tuesday by addressing the obvious.

“There’s been a lot of noise around me taking this job,” she told hundreds of CBS staff members gathered in bureaus across the globe. “I get it. I also get why, in the face of all this tumult, you might feel uncertain or skeptical about me.”

The bumps of Ms. Weiss’s early tenure have been heavily chronicled, including her contentious decision to postpone a “60 Minutes” segment and rocky moments on a revamped “Evening News.”

“We are not producing a product enough people want,” she said, while dismissing day-to-day Nielsen ratings as an outmoded benchmark. “What winning looks like writ large for this company is building incredible journalism for audiences that are so much bigger than the one that we currently have,” she added.

She didn't do that great of job raising you now you want to pass her training off to your kids.

Do you pay your mom the same amount for daycare?

Millionaires making their mama's care for their children.

How's about letting grandparents have a life?
